São Jorge cheese is a protected designation of origin (PDO) legally reserved the right kind of cheese made from raw cow's milk on the island of São Jorge, Azores, which for production purposes is, in its entirety, the demarcated region of cheese São Jorge. The characteristics of the São Jorge cheese, its manner of manufacture and certification are set out in the Regional Regulatory Decree No. 24/86 / A, July 9, and the certifying body of the product to Confraternity of São Jorge cheese, and PDO management consortium to Uniqueijo - Agricultural Cooperatives Union St. George Island.
